So I'm a closet minecraft addict. Recently, Christmas Eve to be exact I started a youtube gaming channel playing, you guessed it, minecraft. I didn't expect to get many hits or views. I just thought it would be fun to make some new gaming friends, beings the girls are getting too old and too busy to hang out playing minecraft with dear ol mom.

When it came time to do the channel art and video thumbnails, well, I am an artist. I couldn't just grab a screenshot and call it good. I wanted expression, excitement, and NOT my face on them. So I made an Avatar, there actually is even a little of the real me in there, without actually being me. :)

So now i have 6 months in, thousands of views and just over 500 subscribers, and a whole lot of people asking "how do you do your channel art?" Well here it is, class this Sat July 11th.

I love Renderosity magazine.  They really do a fantastic job though of showcasing the all of the 3D community. So a big shout out to Renderosity Magazine, keep up the great work! You guys rock!

Here's the link to the article and video if anyone is interested. Lots of fantastic vendors represented in these art pieces, big thanks to them too because I couldn't do what I do without them!

I will be teaching webinar on August 3rd, showing you how the image in the flyer for the webinar was put together. I'll be discussing the whole process from the photo shoot, to rendering out your 3d images, and finally showing you how to put it all together in photoshop.

Integrating photographs with 3D generated renders provides a new universe of possibilities for the digital artist. You can suddenly inject familiar people, objects and landscape elements into your crafted fantasy rendered scene. Compositing can start with the simple – by changing out a sky or background to something more complex, such as placing a photographed person naturally into a 3D generated scene. There are certain essential principles that will help get you the best results and Deanna Cathcart (Deathbycanon in the DAZ forums), a prolific and popular artist at DAZ 3D, Renderosity and DeviantArt will show you how to do this!

DAZ Studio and Photoshop is used in this class, but most of the principles can be translated quite easily for other combinations of software.

Webinar Date: Saturday 3rd August : 20:00 BST (London)/ 12:00 PDT (Los Angeles) / 15:00 EDT (New York)

Duration : 1.5+ hours

You don't need to know Daz studio to use this, I started out using photos that I took with renders that were being offered right here on DA. But you could use stock photos also. Here are some samples from my gallery using stock renders.

I eventually ran out of dragons and needed a very specific dragon pose, that's when I decided to learn daz for myself. The dragon in the image below is the very 1st thing I rendered in Daz.

I logged into my account today and went into my notifications, then saw a comment that said "Congrats on your DD" I thought the person was crazy, I went to the image and I didn't see a DD, so I still thought they were crazy, so I scrolled down, past the very long description and there it was, the DD banner! I still haven't picked my jaw up off the ground!

Here Kitty Kitty II by deathbycanon

I have lots of people to thank for this one! :icongejda: for featuring my work as a DD. The amazing :iconwesley-souza: who not only recommended this piece for a DD but is the whole reason it even exists. It was his group :iconthe-imaginarium: that sponsored a contest to redo and old art piece and recreate it with the help of mentors to point out mistakes and teach skills you don't know. So here was the old one:

I had formally used a premade background and I was determined to make the background from scratch, beings this is something I struggle with. My mentors :iconfrozenstarart: and :iconlunarlueur: were fantastic and their attention to details I couldn't even see at the time amazes me still. Thank you ladies so much for your tips, wisdom, and patience. :)

Thank you all for the comments, favs and watches. I know I haven't been super responsive lately. There's never enough time in the day to learn everything I want to learn, and create everything I want to create. Know that you are all appreciated and that I love DA and the fellowship I get here with my fellow artists.
